Surrogate?
Being a surrogate is life-changing and rewarding. It is also a big commitment. This responsibility should not be taken lightly. Please go through the following basic requirements in health, lifestyle, and finances, and see if it is suitable for you.
Health Requirements
Being a surrogate is life-changing and rewarding. It is also a big commitment. This responsibility should not be taken lightly. Please go through the following basic requirements in health, lifestyle, and finances, and see if it is suitable for you.
Age:
- First-time surrogates must be 21-38 years of age
- Returning surrogates must be 21-39 years of age.
General Health:
- No health conditions that may be exacerbated by pregnancy.
- Have a healthy body mass index (BMI) below 30.
Previous Pregnancies
- Have had at least one healthy pregnancy and delivery of their own.
- No more than 2 C-section at the start of the surrogacy.
- No past occurrence of serious pregnancy complications, such as toxemia, pre-eclampsia, and preterm labor, incompetent cervix, and pregnancy-induced hypertension.
Lifestyle Requirements
- No tobacco uses and no exposure to second-hand tobacco use. Must be tobacco-free for a minimum of 6 months before applying to the program.
- Drug free.
- Live in a surrogacy friendly state. Surrogate is not legal in all states. We will not be able to accept your application if you reside in a state where surrogacy is risky or not legal, including: Alaska, Arizona, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Nebraska, and Wyoming.
- Must be U.S. citizen or legal resident.
- No criminal history. Magic Journeys does not accept application from people who have been convicted of a felony or whose partner has been convicted of a felony.
Financial Requirements
- Financially stable with a steady source of income;
- Surrogacy should not be the sole source of income;
- Regular household income verifications will be conducted;
- No history of bankruptcy is allowed in the past 12 months.
Every applicant is unique and Magic Journeys will consider everybody on a case-by-case basis. This list only serves as guidelines, and gives you some general idea about the process.
