Frequently asked Questions about Egg Donation

How much will it cost to work with an egg donor?
The cost of egg donation varies a lot depending on whether you select a first time or experienced egg donor, where the donor resides in relation to your IVF clinic, and whether or not the donor has any special characteristics, etc. Please refer back to our estimated cost page here. Once you have finalized an egg donor, we will create an estimate for you.
Is the donor’s compensation a set price?
Yes. You are unable to negotiate with the egg donors in our program on their compensation. All egg donors at Magic Journeys receive compensation of more than $5,000 due to the recommendation of American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

What to Consider When Selecting an Egg Donor?
Location: It’s important to keep the egg donor’s resident location in mind. Selecting an egg donor who resides closer to your IVF clinic is one way to help minimize travel expenses. On average, a donor will make at least two trips to your IVF clinic (one for medical screening and one for the egg retrieval). Magic Journeys will provide you with a customized cost estimate based on the donor you are interested in or donor you have selected.
Medical History: If you select an experienced donor, her medical records will be sent to your IVF physician for review and approval. It is very common for donors to carry gene mutations, and you need to ensure that the intended father or sperm donor is not a carrier of the same gene mutation. Magic Journeys can provide your IVF doctor with a copy of the donor’s genetic report.
Personality: Sometimes intended parents want to feel a connection to the donor. It can be shared hobbies or interests, similar personality traits, or a shared family resemblance. Those are just some examples. The connection is different for everyone. The best practice is to take everything into consideration when choosing your specific egg donor.
What happens after I select an egg donor from your agency?
Once our team receives the notification about your online donor selection, we will contact the donor to confirm her upcoming schedule and availability to schedule an in-person doctor appointment. Once the date and time are confirmed, we will proceed with the paperwork. The paperwork and payment must be completed before moving forward.
Will my egg donor be open to meeting my child who is a result of her egg donation?
Most of our donors would like to remain anonymous. There are some egg donors who are open to meeting their offspring. If this is something important to you, please let us know so that we can discuss this with the donor prior to confirming your match.
Will there be outside monitoring?
Yes. If your donor lives outside of your IVF doctor’s area, she will need to be monitored by an outside source. This consists of outside appointments like ultrasounds to be done where the donor is located. Outside monitoring will be factored into estimated costs.
Can the egg donor meet the intended parent?
It really depends on our egg donors’ preferences. All of our donors remain anonymous, so if you are interested in meeting your donor, you would need to contact our Admission Specialists. They will contact your specific egg donor to see if she would like to proceed with meeting the intended parents. All meetings will be conducted by Magic Journeys upon agreement from both sides.
Will I be able to see the photos of the donor?
Absolutely. The donor’s profile consists of multiple photos.
How can I tell if a donor is still available?
The availability status of our donors will appear directly on their profile. All egg donors showcased in our database are available.
I am interested in an experienced donor. Can I see her previous cycle online?
Yes. All of the previous donor’s health history will be accessible online in her profile.
Would my egg donor be willing to travel?
Some of our egg donors are up for travel and others are not. The donors who are willing to travel for appointments will be called to confirm they are still willing once selected.
The estimate for egg donors’ travel can be high. Why?
There are many factors that contribute to this. Your egg donor will need to go to the IVF clinic at least twice during this process. The first appointment will be for her initial medical screening and the second time for the retrieval. Your egg donor will need to be compensated for air travel, hotel, and meals throughout her travel. Our egg donors are required to bring along a travel partner, whose travel expense also needs to be covered. The IVF clinic will not release her from their clinic after the egg retrieval without their travel partner being there.
